Lactic acidosis. Metformin can cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which can be fatal. Get emergency help if you have unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, unusual sleepiness, stomach pain with nausea or vomiting, dizziness, or a slow or irregular heartbeat.
Who is at higher risk
People with kidney or liver problems, heavy alcohol use, dehydration or heart failure, and people having contrast dye procedures or surgery.
Common side effects
Diarrhea, nausea, upset stomach and a metallic taste. Long-term use can lower vitamin B12 levels.

How does pricing work?
Every product shows its price upfront, including your provider visit, the medication and shipping. There are no membership fees. A 3-month supply costs less per month than monthly.
How do I get a prescription?
Choose a product and complete a short online visit. A healthcare provider licensed in your state reviews it. A prescription is issued only if the provider decides treatment is appropriate for you. If you are not approved, you are not charged for the medication.
Are compounded medications FDA-approved?
No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality. They are prepared by state-licensed pharmacies under a valid prescription, and they are not generic versions of brand-name drugs such as Wegovy® or Zepbound®. Each product page states whether it is compounded or FDA-approved.
Can I message a provider after I start?
Yes. Your patient portal includes provider messaging, order tracking and follow-up visits at no extra cost.
